Blossom Design Group, Inc. and The Sol Source, Inc. are the architects of the first home to be completed in conjunction with the City of Scottsdale, Arizona, "Green Building Program." The initial home design, which scored a rating 2 times higher than the minimum required by the program, was completed and made available for home-buyers in North Scottsdale by the builder, Wolf Environmental, Inc. The first in a series of environmental homes, this design features a copper roof made from recycled copper and over 1500 square feet of outdoor patio extending from the main living rooms. Included in the design are combination evaporative cooling and air-conditioning systems specifically designed for the Arizona climate. With conservative use, this home is expected to save the homeowner 40-50% each year in utility costs because of additional high insulation values, natural gas appliances, and passive-solar design features.

Some of our projects include systems such as adobe, rammed or cast earth, straw-bale, recycled composites, engineered wood and straw products, and super-insulation systems.

The technology base for Green Projects is growing nationwide sometimes utilizing time-honored building techniques hybrid with new technology. BDG creates architecture from a balanced perspective, using techniques that have been proven to work with maximum benefit considering both short and long-term environmental goals.
